Working for the needs of individuals with food allergies who are experiencing food insecurity
Food Equality Initiative has been working around the clock for the last week to provide support for our clients during the COVID-19 community spread. We are following all local, state, and national procedures to reduce the impact in our community.
To ensure the safety of our clients, volunteers, and staff, all in-person pantry services have been suspended from March 16th - March 27th.
All clients scheduled for services during these weeks WILL have access to food through shipping or delivery.
The food FEI distributes cost two to four times more than foods that contain common allergens. Due to supply chain disruptions, many of the staple foods we distribute have increased in cost exponentially. There is also increased cost due to shipping and increased demand for service.
We have already heard from several community members with stories. A client said, "I work in a school district as an aid. I am not going to have work for a while due to school closure. I am requesting an emergency appointment to stock up on safe foods. "
Another client said, " We have not had to utilize the pantry but I anticipate the need as I will be off work for a few weeks. I work with seniors and all of our programming was canceled on Friday."
Your financial support is needed now more than ever during these volatile, uncertain, and complex times and is much appreciated.
